Frank William "Billy" Pennington's Obituary
Pennington, Frank William “Billy”, age 43, of Oregonia, formerly of Waynesville and Lebanon, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Bellbrook Health and Rehab Center.
Billy graduated from Waynesville High School, class of 2000, and later earned an associate’s degree in computer science. He was a very proud and active member of the Waynesville Community Church. His faith was very important, and he loved sharing the Gospel with anyone willing to talk to him. He believed that God was what got him through life. His nephew, Liam, and he became Bible buddies.
His passion was cars, his love for cars came from his dad and grandfather. Over the years, he had a collection of Hot Wheels. He was a proud owner of a ’98 and ’06 Ford Mustang, as well as a Chrysler Crossfire. He was a member of several Mustang Clubs. He loved attending and participating in car shows in the area. More recently, he participated in the VA Car Show in Dayton.
With an easygoing personality, he was there for anyone who needed help, a social butterfly who knew everyone. Billy never knew a stranger, he was always happy and never got down. No matter how hard life got, he always had a positive outlook. He was the fabric of the family, the glue that kept everything going. He loved his nieces and nephews and took his role of being an uncle very seriously. He wanted to be the fun uncle; he would help them build Legos, finish their craft projects, decorate cookies, etc. He wanted to be there every minute, and it showed. He had a special place in his heart for his fur babies as well. When he was a child, he had a cat, Tommy, who was more like a person than a cat and would even hug you. For eight years, his faithful companion was his Chihuahua. He was a planner; he liked to know times and plans before they occurred, and his favorite things to plan were family get-togethers. He would ensure that they had monthly meals with the whole family, a Sunday dinner every week at his parent’s house, and movie nights. He enjoyed Pixar movies, kid movies, and a good board game. Every holiday was not complete unless they played a board game. After get-togethers, he would always send a text message thanking the host and letting them know how much he appreciated being a part of the event. He was very grateful in all aspects of his life.
Billy was unique in the sense that he made everything into a tradition, he felt like everything was important and should be celebrated. He was all about pool days with the family, where you got to live your best life. December brought on the traditions of cookie baking day, and the whole month, it became a tradition to watch Christmas shows, whether that be movies, TV shows, or cartoons. His favorite shows were Elf, Christmas Vacation, and Master of Disguise because you may be feeling a little turtley today. His birthday was a big deal and very important to him. He always looked forward to the surprise that presents provided and celebrating his birth. He cherished holidays, and before one was done, he was preparing for the next one. For many years, the family would go camping at Long’s Retreat Family Resort in Latham. This camping trip is something that Billy looked forward to each year. He believed there should always be plenty of ice in your glass and even appreciated a big cup of ice chips to snack on. He was always looking forward to enjoying life to its fullest. He had a great sense of humor and would act silly from time to time. If he saw costume hats, he would try them all on and have you take pictures of him. Older country music was his favorite thing to have the radio tuned to. He enjoyed making videos of him singing older country songs; he would then post the videos on his Facebook account. Among many things, Billy will be remembered for the love and pride he had for car shows, the passion he had for his faith, and most importantly, his family.
Billy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank William Pennington and Edna Bryant. He is survived by his parents, William D. and Lisa Pennington; one brother, Jeff (Kimberlee) Pennington; two sisters, Carrie (Adam) Bennett and Cassie (Nick) McIntosh; nine nephews and nieces, Liam, Paisley, Elam, Lijah, Nico, Annabelle, Rosaile, Charlie, and Oliver; his special cousin that was considered to more like a brother, Cory (Susie) Price; and grandparents, Ernest (Brenda) Wilson and Sandy Christian.
A celebration of life service will be held at 4 pm on Friday, November 22 at Waynesville Community Church. Since Billy loved the holidays so much, they are asking everyone to wear their favorite Christmas attire to the funeral in his honor. Todd Cyphers will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 PM to 4 PM on Friday, November 22, at the church. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family.
