Freda M. Lamb's Obituary
LAMB, Freda M., a truly Christian and caring lady, age 83, of Corwin, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2020 as the result of an aggressive form of cancer. She was born to Floyd and Gertrude Smith in Sandgap, Kentucky.
Strong in her beliefs, Freda has been a dedicated and faithful member of the Corwin Pentecostal Church for nearly all of her married life. Her church was a major focus of her life for many reasons, not the least for the fact that she married the love of her life, Ray, there some 65 years ago.
For over 50 years, Freda made a name for herself by doing for others. Up until the past few weeks, she was still going out and working for some of her longstanding friends.
Humble, family oriented, and always putting others first, Freda took great pride in caring for others. She greatly enjoyed sewing, usually in the form of alterations or hems for family and friends, but was also known to make her own clothes from time to time. However, Freda showed her loved for others with food. Friend or stranger, she had a meal for you. All enjoyed being gifted a dessert made by Freda Lamb. In fact, the residents of Quaker Heights, where her daughter works, became the benefactors of homemade baking, instead of the store-bought variety, mostly because Freda offered her assistance. Over the years, she became known for her homemade cinnamon cakes, chicken and dumplings, lemon lush, and mashed potatoes. When asked to bring a desert to a church dinner or some charitable benefit, she would bake several to ensure there was enough for everyone. Of course, the traditional holidays were a big treat at her house, with homemade sugar cookies and buckeyes. Among the many things, she will be remembered for her Saturday shopping trips and for her collection of angels and ceramic lambs.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister Emma Jean Helton. She is survived by her husband, Ray; son Craig (Melissa) Lamb; daughter Tami (Jim) Linville; six grandchildren Renee Wallace, Jason (Vanessa) Linville, Brandon (Kristy) Lamb, Mark Bloom, Logan Bloom, and Seth Bloom; six great grandchildren Malik, Robbie, Taylor, Andrew, Shelby, and Mikael; and two sisters Phyllis (Luther) Hobbs and Caroleen Rigg.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Wednesday, July 22 at the Corwin Pentecostal Church. Don Ingram and Phillip Hoskins will be officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. The family will receive friends 4:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Corwin Pentecostal Church. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made to the Ohio Living Quaker Heights Activities Department, 514 W. High St., Waynesville, OH 45068 and/or the Miami Cemetery Road Fund, 6379 Corwin Ave, Waynesville, OH 45068.
