G. Douglas Henderson's Obituary
HENDERSON, G. Douglas "Doug" died August 30, 2017.
Born on June 19, 1929 in Waynesville, Ohio to Nancy D. (Treadway) and George H. Henderson.
Doug graduated from Waynesville High School in 1947. Two years later, he married his high school sweetheart, Faye E. (Creech), on February 5, 1949, who lived down the road. His first daughter, Belinda, was born on December 30, 1950 and his second daughter, Melissa, was born on February 5, 1956.
Doug attended the University of Dayton and Wright State University where his daughter Belinda and grandson Todd obtained their graduate degrees. He was also very proud to have attended career development classes at Purdue University.
Doug spent his career working in television, the new budding industry of the 1950’s. He began as a TV repairman at the Montgomery Ward’s store in Phoenix, Arizona in 1953. Doug and his family returned to Dayton, Ohio where he would work for the television station WHIO. His profession would also take him to Wright Patterson, salesman for RCA, the PBS station in Pittsburgh, WSBK in Boston, WJBK in Detroit, Channel 2 in Atlanta, and lastly, Memphis from where he would retire. As Director of Engineering, he built studio control rooms and transmitters for the many television stations.
Upon retirement, Doug and Faye moved back to the farm where he spent his early life in Waynesville, Ohio. He and his brother, Don, developed the 50 acres of farm land into 24 home sites named G & D Properties. Faye and he built their retirement home together on the original acreage.
Doug will leave behind his beloved family including his wife of 68 years, Faye; his daughters Belinda (Daniel) Hausman and Melissa (Paul) Bogdanoff; grandchildren Alisa MacKeown, Todd (Shelly) Hausman, and Aleksa Bogdanoff; great grandchildren Brittany, Danielle, Mathias, and Greta; his brother Don (Judy) Henderson; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life gathering 3 - 4 pm on Sat. Sept. 16 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Celebration of life service will immediatedly follow at 4 pm at the funeral home. Doug always believed in the power of education and always encouraged his children and grandchildren to purse their dreams through education.
