Gail L. Bradley's Obituary
BRADLEY, Gail L., age 69, of Waynesville, passed away Monday, July 25, 2022, at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties.
Gail graduated from Waynesville High School in 1971. She co-founded and co-operated B&B Carryout in Waynesville, which started as a farmer’s market in the early 70s. While her children were school-age, she was involved with the athletic boosters and the PTO and was active in Amway. Gail helped with the inception of the Halloween Carnival and was an instrumental part of the success of the Country Fair, both of which operated on school grounds and involved family, kids and the Waynesville community.
The undeniable matriarch of the family, Gail was devoted, loving, caring, sweet, exceptionally family-oriented and the center of all family activities and events. An excellent cook, she demonstrated her love through cooking and took immense pride in feeding her family and friends. For a time, she extended that love to the community by cooking the daily specials at B&B. Amongst many standout recipes, her peanut butter fudge, homemade noodles, steak & gravy, cheesecake and Texas sheet cake will never be duplicated. She demonstrated her lifelong focus on family by attending every sporting event and performance for her children and grandchildren. Gail never missed a game, even forgoing vacations in favor of traveling to watch them play. While she was a lover of shopping, especially bargains, she also had an eye for interior design. She was on a first-name basis and a premier call list for many staff members at the Pottery Barn Outlet. Her passion for decorating is most evident with her collection of pillows and statement chairs. Everyone always had a seat at her table and in her home. Gail also enjoyed gardening and especially loved fragrant flowers. Outside her home, the smell of lilac would welcome you inside.
Family gatherings were a cornerstone of her life and gave her intense pride. She treated all equally, with love and grace, and she had an open door for everyone. She hosted every holiday at her home, most importantly Thanksgiving and Christmas. All were welcome, and she treated everyone like family, even making sure to have extra gifts on-hand should an unexpected guest arrive at the holidays. The size of her Christmas trees matched her holiday spirit, commonly reaching over 15 feet tall. Gail even had a back door specifically installed to accommodate those immense trees. Additionally, her sewing skills were top-notch. Many Halloweens, she created award-winning costumes for her family members. She loved bringing joy to her children and grandchildren by creating the perfect costume. Her love of family also carried over to her dogs, whom she cherished.
She was preceded in death by three grandchildren: Liam, Heath, and Amelia; her parents, Dean and Patricia Johnson; and her brother-in-law, Clinton “Mooch” Elam. She is survived by four sons: Jerrod (Margie) Bradley, Jason (Jen) Bradley, Randy (Blair) Robbins and Joe (Jessica) Bradley; nine grandchildren: Kirsten (Caleb) Bryant, Kara (Devon) Snyder, Korryn, Kooper, and Bella Bradley, Sandler and Arlington Robbins, and Josslynn and Jackson Bo Bradley; two great-grandchildren, Aubree and Rhylanne; one great-grandchild on the way; two brothers, Gary (Trecia) Johnson and Dave (Jeri) Johnson; one sister, Susie Elam; and her beloved dogs, Avery and Millie.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, July 29, at Crossview Christian Church in Waynesville. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery Corwin. Steve Williamson will be officiating the services. The family will receive friends 11 AM - 2 PM Friday at the church.
