Gary M. Cunningham's Obituary
CUNNINGHAM, Gary M., age 80, of Dayton and formerly of Waynesville, passed away Fri., Jan. 10, 2020 at his residence. He was born Sept. 16, 1939 to George and Marie Cunningham in Cleveland, Ohio.
Gary proudly served in the Army National Guard. He retired in 2016 as regional manager at Encapsulite International after serving 50 years in the electrical industry. He was a 42 years member and an elder at the Lebanon Presbyterian Church. In addition, he was a member and past President of both the NEMRA Southern Ohio Chapter and the Greater Cincinnati Electrical Association.
The most important things to Gary were faith, family, and food. He loved his children and was a proud grandpa. His positive attitude guided his actions, always working to bring out the best in others. Gary never knew a stranger, would talk to anyone and loved to tell stories. He could often be found in his workshop doing small projects. He found joy in the holidays with the excitement, the gift giving and all the special foods. The family cottage on Spoonland in Parry Sound, Ontario held a very special place in his heart. As Santa, he was the real deal, giving hundreds of kids the best memories.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Claudia; three sons Todd (Janet) Cunningham, Mark Cunningham, and Michael (Julia) Cunningham; two daughters Jill Cunningham and Angela (Steve) Anderson; 11 grandchildren Ryan, Christian, Reilly, Quinn, Maddison, Caelen, Gary, Clay, David, Adam, and Cheyenne; five great grandchildren; and one brother Craig (Ethelynne) Cunningham.
A celebration of life service will be held 11 AM, Sat., Jan. 25 at the Lebanon Presbyterian Church. Randy Fannin will be officiating the services. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made to the Lebanon Presbyterian Church for the upkeep and maintenance of their pipe organ or the charity of your choice. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
