Gary Carl Stammen's Obituary
STAMMEN, Gary Carl, age 61, of Blanchester and formerly of Waynesville, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Kettering Medical Center.
Gary graduated from the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities Services' Northview Center School in Dayton. He has worked for Productions Services Unlimited Inc. in Lebanon for the last 22 years.
When Gary was younger, he was a member of the Special Olympics. He immensely enjoyed all kinds of sports, swimming, bowling, basketball, football, and baseball. He also enjoyed taking trips to Cincinnati to watch the Reds play baseball. Gary was a lovable, very polite, and courteous gentleman who had a larger-than-life personality. He always tried to make people smile; make silly faces; offer family, friends, and even strangers hugs or pats on the back; and he always had fun.
Movies were a passion of his, and many times you had to wait for the movie to finish before you could begin the next task. His movie selection has changed over the years, but some of his favorites will always be Flipper, Incredible Hulk, Marvels, Dallas- westerns, and WWE wrestling. His love of music also varied over the years. He typically always stayed with the country music stars. He always enjoyed Elvis Presley, and later in life, he started enjoying Kenny Rogers, Johnny Cash, John Denver, and Garth Brooks. Every year for Christmas, it became a tradition for him to play his guitar at the family gathering.
He had a special place in his heart for pets, especially his dog, Spooks, and his pride and joy cat, Josie. One of his favorite traditions was family vacations. They traveled to the beach in Florida, out west, and to Nashville. In Nashville, he was able to go to the Grand Ole Opry and also see an Elvis impersonator, which he loved. He was intensely devoted to his faith and would gladly take every opportunity to attend church. He would regularly go to church with his mom. Among many things, he will be remembered for his love of his family and all the memories he could share with them.
