Geniece W. Bradley's Obituary
BRADLEY, Geniece W., age 89, of Waynesville, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022, at her residence with her loving husband of 69 years by her side.
She worked a couple of years in her younger days at NCR and a couple more years at Dave Steel Company, but her pride and joy in life was staying home and caring for her family.
During her younger days and while her kids were growing up, Geniece served as a troop leader for the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girls Scouts. In addition, she was a faithful member of the Dodds Pentecostal Church in Waynesville. One of the church’s “prayer warriors,” she helped build the Bible School program at church and served as pianist, organist, singer, and Sunday School teacher over the years. She also helped start Missionettes and Royal Rangers through the church and helped create the funnel cake booth that still operates each year at the Ohio Sauerkraut Festival, which benefits the church and its activities. She accepted Christ into her life at the age of 13 and kept the faith until the end of her life on earth.
Caring, fun, outgoing, loving, and nurturing, Geniece was a great lady of faith and an excellent wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma. Her hobbies included ceramics, upholstery work, and crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was quite artistic and enjoyed creating artisan cakes for special events. Via her sewing room, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint work. She was an excellent cook and will be remembered for her homemade yeast rolls, pecan pie, beef roast, and all the southern-style cooking that she favored. With the help of her husband and his love of gardening, they were living organic before it was a fad. She made homemade jellies and canned many garden vegetables to enjoy all winter long.
Among the many family traditions, she enjoyed getting together with her family, especially whenever her sister traveled back from Oregon, to play Scrabble. She started every morning with her husband by reading the Bible with a cup of coffee. When the kids were younger, they traveled to Lake Cumberland for boating, skiing, fishing, and fellowship with a group from Dodds Church. She also enjoyed the many trips they took to Florida, Gatlinburg, and especially a trip out west to Oregon, California, and out west.
She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Bradley; her parents, Virgil and Lina Wilkerson; and two brothers, Vincent and Wade Wilkerson. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Farrel; daughter, Cynthia Coffman; two sons, Michael David Bradley and Edward Bradley; three grandchildren, Bradley (Crystal) Coffman, Bethanie Coffman-McCoy, and Rebecca Bradley; five great-grandchildren, Maya, Keaton, Emma, Ella, and Sophie; and one sister, Sheila (Robert) Barger.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday, June 30 at Dodds Pentecostal Church in Waynesville. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. Pastor Bill Lamb and Jay Osborn will be officiating the services. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM Thursday at the church. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made to Melvin Kincaid Missionary, Guate-Mex Vision, Inc., PO Box 171, Mission, TX 78573-0003 (in support of mission work in Mexico) and Hospice of Cincinnati.
