Geraldine "Jeri" Lamb's Obituary
LAMB, Geraldine “Jeri," age 82, of Germantown, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022.
Jeri graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’57. She retired from Miami Valley News in 2001 after 15 years of service to the company, but her main occupation in life was being a mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She is currently an active member of the Community Jesus Church in Carlisle. In former years, she was a faithful member of Friend Road House of Prayer in Germantown, where she loved to sing and play the piano.
Independent, strong, caring, loving, and outgoing, Jeri had a mothering personality, didn’t know a stranger, and insisted everyone call her grandma. She greatly enjoyed working puzzles, sewing, shopping, and reading her Bible-front to back many times. She also loved maps, especially laying them out and studying the different routes and locations in depth. She loved going out to eat, especially her favorite restaurant, Crackle Barrel. Over the years, it became a family tradition to travel to Florida for a classic beach vacation, always with stops at Crackle Barrel on the way there and back. One special trip to Pensacola Beach, Florida, resulted in a fender bender that she caused at the McDonald’s drive-thru, which the family always kidded her with afterward. It also became a tradition for the family to get together for outdoor barbecue dinners and other occasions. However, of all her hobbies and interests, the love and time she spent on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were most important. She committed herself to babysit multiple generations, and along with her husband’s help with the driving, they took donuts to the grandkids on a weekly basis. It also became a habit for them to take her great-granddaughter, Ella, to Crackle Barrel and Aby shopping weekly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elias and Lena Poole; three brothers, Wendall, Richard, and Charlie; and three sisters, Louise, Joyce, and Marie. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John; son Gary H. (Lisa) Lamb; five grandchildren, Christina (Matt) Phillips, Jacki (Brad) Wilson, Heather Lamb (Nick Macy), Lindsey (Joshua) Beyersdoerfer; and Zack Lamb; eight great-grandchildren, Aly, Aby, Kam, Levi, Caleb, Austin, Ella, Emma, and one on the way, Maddie; four brothers, Dale, Bernie, Billy, and Donald; and two sisters, Linda and Barbara Jean.
The family will receive friends 6 - 8 PM Tuesday, January 25 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. A second visitation will be held 11 AM - 1 PM Wednesday, January 26 at Community Jesus Church in Carlisle, immediately followed by a funeral service at 1 PM at the church. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens, Miamisburg. If desired, contributions may be made to Community Jesus Church and/or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
