Gordon N. Dixon's Obituary
DIXON, Gordon N., age 81, of Clarksville, passed away Friday, October 11, 2024, at Fairmont Senior Living of Washington Township.
Gordon honorably served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Wilmington American Legion. He retired from GM in 1999 after 34 years of service.
He loved the Lord and shared his faith with others. He attended the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Waynesville, Ohio, for most of his adult life. As he got older, he liked to visit different churches and spend time at Clarksville Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed being around his family during the holidays, and family dinners were a highlight; he had always loved being around his family and seeing what they had become in life. Hardworking, over-generous, and always busy and on the go, Gordon was known for being a jokester and loved getting a rise out of his loved ones and friends.
He adored his farms and his parents’ old furniture store and cherished the pigs, cows, draft horses, mules, and donkeys he raised. He was fond of his beloved donkey, Roscoe, and his dog, Lucky. He enjoyed going to car shows and running around doing nothing as long as it involved going out to eat. He always appreciated local farm auctions where he would find just the right additions to his collection of farm equipment that he rarely used. He had an old Oliver tractor that he would rev up just to hear the engine hum and then run around in it, tearing stuff up. Among many things, he will be remembered for his love for his family and the Lord, his sense of humor, and his love for something sweet, including his favorite rhubarb pie.
Gordon was preceded in death by his daughter, Shannon Dixon; parents, Howard “Ben” and Elsie Dixon; two brothers, David Dixon and Mike Dixon (including his wife Debbie and son Daryl); and one sister, Donna Gallion. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances; his daughter, Suzette (John) Everhart; two sons, Rodney Dixon and Ronnie (Jenny) Dixon; seven grandchildren, Angela Dixon, Michael Barnes, Christopher Everhart, John Everhart Jr., Ben Everhart, Nick Dixon, and Seth Dixon; a multitude of great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Gary (Wanda) Dixon, John Dixon, and Howard (Gwen) Dixon; and one sister, Debbie (Chuck) Reeder.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Friday, October 18, 2024, at Clarksville Pentecostal Church of God, 7098 State Route 350. Pastor Rick Sandlin will be officiating the service. Burial will be at Clarksville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 AM to 1 PM on Friday, October 18. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family.
