Gwendolyn Sue Harris' Obituary
HARRIS, Gwendolyn “Gwen” Sue, age 67, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Hospice of Butler & Warren County.
Gwen graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’74. Gwendolyn served in a variety of different positions throughout the community. She worked at Mom’s Country Kitchen, Ridgeville Tavern (where she met her husband while working), and most recently at Lee’s Famous Chicken Restaurant in Franklin.
Truthful, honest, and giving, Gwen was a very loving wife. She had a good-hearted and feisty spirit. She would tell you exactly what was on her mind, whether you wanted to hear it or not. She enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband and traveling and camping in their motorhome. After a ride, they enjoyed stopping by the Ridgeville Tavern or Chief’s Lake for a beer. Their favorite camping stops included Cowan Lake, Caesar Creek Lake, Hueston Woods State Park, Whitewater Memorial State Park, and out west.
She always had a soft spot for dogs. She raised numerous dogs over the years. Her current dog was Lucy. She enjoyed the family reunion picnic and would look forward to seeing everyone each year. With her husband, they would attend different auctions. She loved antiques and had quite the collection. She was a hands-on wife who liked to handle all the day-to-day tasks. Gwen was very proud of her husband and considered him to be the best thing that ever happened.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willard Perdue Sr.; one brother, Willard Perdue Jr. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Roger Dale Harris; her mother, Anita M. Perdue; two step-daughters, Lisa Harris and Debra Stewart; one grandson, Zachary Asbury; nephew, Jeremy Perdue; and good friends that were thought of as family, Brian and Mattie Conder, and Tony Lista.
Graveside services at 11 am Monday, November 13, 2023, at Miami Valley Memorial Gardens in Centerville. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made to the Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
