Harold "Shorty" Douglas Horn Sr.'s Obituary
HORN, Harold "Shorty" Douglas, Sr., age 86, of Crossville, Tennessee, and formerly of Waynesville, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at his home.
Shorty worked as a mechanic on the Florida East Cost Railroad for over 20 years and always loved trains. As a skilled mechanic, he also enjoyed working on cars. When he was younger, he raced go-carts and participated in auto racing. He was well known for his ornery and caring nature who would gladly help his neighbors with anything from mowing to cleaning. His other hobbies included woodworking, fishing, and working in his vegetable garden. It became a family tradition to travel back to Ohio to visit his family each summer and during the holidays.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Woodrow Horn; son-in-law, Bill Waller; his parents, Wilson and Zella Horn; one brother, Lewis Horn; and three sisters, Donna Faye Horn, Linda Burnell, and Pat Wyatt. He is survived by his loving wife, Geneva Ruth; three sons, Harold Douglas Horn Jr., Thomas Allen Horn, and Jeffrey Lynn (Jennifer) Horn; one daughter Rebecca Sue Waller; five grandchildren, Christopher, Natalie, Elizabeth, Alex, and Mackenzie; and three brothers, Woody (Brenda) Horn, Ricky (Mona) Horn, and Denny Horn.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, January 4, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Burial will be in Miami Valley Memorial Gardens in Centerville.
