Helen M. Holland (Neeley)'s Obituary
HOLLAND, Helen M. (Neeley), age 82, of Waynesville, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020 at Kettering Medical Center.
Family oriented, loving, and caring, Helen could be ornery in a fun way and liked to speak her mind. She greatly enjoyed traditional country music and working crossword puzzles, but caring for her children and grandchildren gave her the most joy. Over the years, she also enjoyed traveling. She traveled to Florida at least three times per year, often spur of the moment trips that resulted in the kids grabbing their bags after walking in from school. They also visited Oklahoma to visit family and to Renfro Valley in Kentucky for the atmosphere and country charm. She collected bells from her travels through the states. Among many things, she will be remembered for her cooking, especially candy, buckeyes, and fudge. She was known for always making sure that family members had a birthday cake on their birthday. In addition, she always made Easter Bunny cakes during the Easter holiday.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, in 2017; one daughter Teresa Holland; her parents Lester and Ella Maggie Neeley; six brothers Jesse, Clayborn, Harold, Garland, Elger, and Coy Neeley; and two sisters Maurine Smith and Pauline Neeley. She is survived by three daughters Rhonda (Dana) Combs, Jennifer (Darrell) McIntosh, and Gayle Holland (Stephen Jones); and six grandchildren Dustin, Courtney (Michael), Samantha, Hunter, Morgan, and Sadie.
The family will receive friends 5 - 7 PM Thursday, December 17 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation at 7 PM on Thursday at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home.
