Holly A. Furnas' Obituary
FURNAS, Holly A., age 34, of Miamisburg and formerly of Franklin, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025.
With deep faith in God, Holly has attended the Bethel Holiness Church in Carlisle for her entire adult life.
Caring, loving, devoted, honest, organized, outgoing, and friendly, Holly was a family-oriented person who loved people. Humorously, she was given the nickname of “Two Cent” by family and friends because she was never afraid to share her opinion with others. At the same time, she genuinely loved people and was always willing to help those in need. She had excellent organizational skills and loved to plan and decorate for birthday parties, holidays, and family get-togethers. Known as the “Balloon Arch Queen,” due to her love of decorating for parties, Holly especially loved babies and kids and was always willing to assist in celebrating birthday parties and baby showers.
Holly loved to sing and play music with the piano and drums. While she learned to play the piano in church during her youth, she mostly used her love of music as a comfort at home during her adult years. Swimming was another of Holly's favorite hobbies. While traveling, she always insisted that the hotel had a pool to enjoy. She loved to travel, with some of her favorite trips being Florida, Gatlinburg, weekends at Put-In-Bay, and most recently a cruise to the Bahamas, which became one of her favorite travel adventures. She especially enjoyed visiting the beach, but she often preferred swimming in the hotel pools over the ocean, always insisting that she could see the bottom. Holly was also known for her love of shopping, especially at her favorite store, Amazon. Shoes and purses were among her favorite items, and she often found herself shopping for them regularly.
Holly loved getting together with family, especially during the Christmas season. While growing up, she enjoyed the tradition of opening one special gift each year during Christmas Eve. When she got married to Carl, they started a tradition of buying each other a personalized Christmas ornament each year, which she always looked forward to. Among many things, Holly will be remembered for how much she loved her miniature goldendoodle, Taylor, her love of treating herself to massages and pedicures, and her favorite color, yellow. However, it was the immense love, devotion, and care that she always provided to her daughter that will define Holly’s life and what she will be remembered most for. Always the type to celebrate with family, she was amused and often shared that she was related to many people with the name John in her family.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, John Furnas. She is survived by her husband, John “Carl” Furnas; daughter, Sophia Grace Furnas; her parents, John and Teresa Campbell; her brother, John (Heather) Campbell; her grandmother, Earleen Carpenter; mother-in-law, Polly (Kip) Sullivan; grandmother-in-law, Nevada “Kathy” Flowers; and several extended family members and close friends.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 1 PM on Friday, August 8, at Dixie Highway Christian Church in Franklin. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation on Friday at the church, with Brother John Cagg officiating. Burial will be in Woodhill Cemetery, Franklin. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be in Holly’s memory toward the ongoing care of her daughter by use of Zelle (account can be found using the Zelle app and searching for John Furnas by his cell number), or by writing a check directly to Holly’s husband, John “Carl” Furnas, with “Sophia” in the memo line.
