Jackie L. Arthur's Obituary
ARTHUR, Jackie L., age 78, of Waynesville, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025, at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties.
Jackie graduated from Clinton-Massie High School. She was always proud to be part of the first graduating class, which was the class of ’65. For many years, she attended the Corwin Pentecostal Church. Lately, she had been attending Founded by Faith in Harveysburg. Although Jackie was a proud homemaker, she worked many jobs throughout her life; however, she was most proud of being a babysitter and caregiver to numerous families in the community. In addition, she sold Avon for over 40 years.
Family-oriented, devoted, and nurturing, Jackie was caring and supportive of everyone she knew. Known as “Grandma Pancake” to her grandchildren, she became a loving grandma to the friends of her grandchildren, the kids she babysat and cared for, and many other neighborhood kids. She loved local sports and regularly attended the games at both the Wayne Local and Clinton-Massie sports teams. She attended the games her grandchildren participated in, from youth through adulthood, never missing one. She regularly attended her adult grandson’s softball games, where she was a mainstay in the stand, sitting with the wives of the players. Not only would she attend the games her grandchildren participated in, which she never missed, but she will be missed as one of those devoted fans always there at the games, always encouraging the kids to play their best. Her other hobbies included word search puzzles, caring for her flowers, and being actively involved in the church.
Jackie enjoyed several family traditions during her life. In addition to spending the 4th of July holiday at the McKinney’s each year, she hosted Christmas Eve at her home for her family each year. During the Christmas tradition, she proudly decorated her home, purchased gifts, cooked the family meal, and provided stockings for all the family members, which became her favorite tradition. She always insisted that they return the stockings to her to be filled up again next year, and she always insisted that they contain some items she found essential, such as fingernail clippers that she included for each person every year, which the family found amusing. Among many things, Jackie will be remembered for her love of collecting dolls and Longaberger baskets, her fondness for the color purple, and how much she loved getting together with family at Mike’s while enjoying taco salad.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Louise Lamb. She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Jim; two daughters, Angie Keegan and Jaime (Mike) Shaffer; four grandchildren, Robert Keegan, Kyle Keegan, Mariah Shaffer, and Lexie (Christian) Doss; four great-grandchildren, Ezekiel, Roman, Titan, and Wrenley; two sisters, Shirley Culberson and Connie Faul; special niece, Danara Shaffer; and Jackie’s goddaughter, Desiree Keener.
The family will receive friends from 4 - 8 PM on Wednesday, June 18, at the Corwin Pentecostal Church. A funeral will be held at 11 AM on Thursday at the church, followed by burial in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. If desired, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home is serving the family. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
