Jacqueline "Jackie" N. Pettit's Obituary
PETTIT, Jacqueline “Jackie” N., age 77, of Waynesville, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at her residence.
Jackie graduated from West Carrolton High School, class of ’61. She worked as a beautician in her family’s shop for 15 years, aptly named the Mother Daughter Beauty Shop in Centerville. She officially retired in 2003 from the US Postal Service after more than 25 years of service as a rural carrier. She was a member of the Waynesville United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women (UMW), and the Progressive Women’s Club. In addition, she served a Girl Scouts leader when her kids were younger.
Family oriented, witty, quiet yet strong, Jackie was a good steward and liked to serve others. For several years, she volunteered with community meals at her church and also assisted in meals in the Lebanon area for those in need. She greatly enjoyed camping, boating, gardening, and spending time with her family. What started as camping trips turned into frequent trips to their lake house on Dale Hollow Lake. Some of the families’ greatest moments were the days spending time with Jackie out on the water. Along with her husband, they purchased a motor home and traveled all over the United States with family and friends. She also greatly enjoyed the monthly luncheons with friends from her high school class over the years. The orchard and garden behind their home also created many fond memories for Jackie and her family over the years. In addition, the time spent sitting in her kitchen during family dinners, get-togethers and making Christmas candy together created some of the fondest memories of her life. Among many things, she will be remembered for picking up the grandkids from school during their last day each year and taking them on a special day trip with grandma. She was also well-known for never missing a grandchild’s sporting event or activity at school.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 2016; one grandson Paul Schwab; and her parents Jack and Blodwyn Lesher. She is survived by three daughters Sharon “Sherry” (Ed) Schwab, Karen (Mike) Lewis, and Julie (Tim) Perry; seven grandchildren Levi (Amber) Schwab, Nicole and Shaun Lewis, Coltin, Brooke, Tanner, and Ainsley Perry; two great grandchildren Chloe and Autumn; one sister Gayle (Don) Louderback; and special friends Randall and Anita Parks.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, August 15 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Pastor Joni Manson will be officiating. The family will receive friends 5 - 8 PM Friday at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to the Waynesville United Methodist Church (PO Box 634, Waynesville, OH 45068), the Progressive Women’s Club scholarship fund (PO Box 1002, Waynesville, OH. 45068) and/or the American Cancer Society (PO Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK 73123).
