James "Jimmy" N. Deters' Obituary
DETERS, James "Jimmy" N., age 58, of Waynesville, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024.
Jimmy graduated from Waynesville High School, Class of '84. He was currently working for Warren County Juvenile Detention Center, serving as a juvenile corrections officer.
Loyal, witty, honest, humble, giving, hardworking, and altruistic, Jimmy was selfless and cared deeply for others. Jimmy's pride in his son, Jordan, was evident to all who knew him. They shared many memories together, from fishing at Camp Kern when Jordan was growing up to their mutual love of sports. Always sports-oriented, Jimmy played high school football and was a dedicated fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. He often scheduled his personal and work schedules around games. While working at GM during his younger days, Jimmy had a tradition of watching games at Fricker's with his work buddies. In addition, he made it a tradition to watch the NFL draft each year, often hosting parties at his house. He competed in dart leagues at Billie's in Lebanon for several years, earning League Champion one year. In recent years, he found great joy in his role as Poppy to his grandchildren, where his caring and ornery demeanor made him a beloved figure in the children's lives. He loved playing Euchre and a variety of card games with friends and family. Among many things, Jimmy will be remembered for his love of 80's and 90's rock music and his vast collection of Cleveland Browns memorabilia that decorated his home.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Erica, and his father, Thomas (Karen) Deters. He is survived by his son, Jordan (Kelsey) Deters; three grandchildren, Rowdy, Love, and Honey; one brother, David (Nikki) Deters; Jimmy's significant other, Alicia Stamm; Alicia's children, Carissa (Logan) Clawson and Kelsey Stamm; and Carissa's children, Isabella and Clayton.
