Coach was our basketball coach at Fayetteville High School, Fayetteville Oh, I believe this was his first coaching position, He had us in the state tournaments, My brother Kenneth McCarty always kept in touch with Jim and brought together some of his team from that period that played for him, They had a great time being together this was about 12 years ago. I was also in school at this time, and remember him as being strict and took no nonsense, he also started a boxing program until parents objected, Recent years before I retired from Barbing in Oakwood, Jim came to me for his haircut, I really enjoyed talking to him and about the times he was our coach at Fayetteville, he was really a great coach and man, Kermit Mac McCarty

I will never forget him and I am sure he will never never forget me. I was a pulling guard at Belmont 1970- 73 .Coach Mac told me that I was his greatest achievement ‼️🤣 He made me good enough to be AP All Southwest Ohio. One of my fondest memories was the day he broke the clipboard over my head🤣‼️ Mac was a great man and a great coach‼️ I loved him -John Deuer.

Mac was like a father to me.Taught me so much about the game of football as well as life. He used to take me pheasant and grouse hunting on Friday mornings in the fall. One time we came up on a briar patch and he was certain a grouse was in it. He said " Schmitzy , get in there and flush it out". I said "Jim, why in the hell did we bring the dog?" His response , classic Mac," I dont want to get her all cut up in the briars, Now quit arguing with me and get the hell in there" So, I went in there , flushed the grouse, he shot it and let his dog chew on it a little. Me ? I got nothing , no pat on the head, no doggy treat, just got cut up to pieces. Loved every minute of it!!! Great man. Cherished every minute I spent with him.

Coach was a big part of my and my friend's lives. We played as his last team at Belmont high, city champs 73 and 74. He taught me many life lessons that served me well in my life. Sorry for your loss. Chuck Meade,66.
