James S. Jones' Obituary
JONES, James S., age 78, of Lebanon and formerly of Waynesville, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at Hospice of Dayton.
James was born on September 18, 1944, to John and Rose Jones in Cuyahoga Falls. He graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School, class of ’62. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the University of Akron. For over 30 years, he worked with his dad at John David Jones and Associates. He then started his own company, Jones Warner Consultants, and worked until his retirement in 2021. As a whole, he worked as a civil engineer for over 62 years. He was a member of many engineering clubs but was incredibly proud of being part of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
His wife, Sandie, and his daughters and their families were extremely important to him. He also cherished the time he got to spend in church. He was a member of Centerville Community Church for over 30 years. James loved the farm that he owned with his wife and raised their horses. He raised horses for competitive reining and riding. His two favorite show horses were Sir Black Coffee and Wry Dock. In addition, he also enjoyed shooting guns competitively and for target practice. Among many things, he felt that having family time was precious and to savor every minute you were given.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John David Jones and Rose Jones, and one sister Lynn. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Sandie; two daughters, Kristie (Dave) Damalas and Lindsey Stacks; four grandchildren, Lainey, Madison, Hank, and Ava; and one sister, Stephanie (Marty) Grady.
A graveside services will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday, August 8, at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
