James E. Whitney's Obituary
WHITNEY, James E. age 91, of Waynesville, passed away Mon. Aug. 25, 2015 at Quaker Heights Care Community, Waynesville. James served in the Army during WWII and retired from GM in 1977 after 30 years of service. A hard worker all of his life, he worked an additional 20 years at Waynesville Auto Body. He greatly enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, watching TV, and working on his house. He was preceded in death by his father Cecil Whitney, and his grandparents Julie and Lee Whitney, and his brother Cecil Lee Whitney. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Myrtle; three daughters Carolyn (Chuck) Taylor, Judy Landers, and Patti (Jimmy) Gompf; 7 grandchildren Julie (Casper) Bellar, Steve (Chris) Taylor, Lori (Nathan) Powell, Lyndsey (Chad) Minnix, Brynn (Matt) Coy, Michael (Krista) Gompf, and Jon Gompf; 19 great grandchildren; and 1 great great granddaughter on the way. Funeral services Noon Fri. Aug. 28 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville. Pastor Tommy Chattin officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin.
