Jane A. Jones' Obituary
JONES, Jane A., age 69, of Waynesville, passed away Monday, September 5, 2022, at the Atrium Medical Center.
Jane graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’71. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from John Brown University in Arkansas. She retired in 2018 from Elder Beerman after 35 years of service to the company.
Loving, selfless, kind, extremely family-oriented, and loyal to everyone, Jane immensely enjoyed being a supportive and dedicated mom to her kids while they were growing up. A dance, band, and soccer mom through and through, she supported the kids with all their extracurricular activities, including their endeavors and fairs in 4H. While she could be reserved, she did not hesitate to show her support for her beloved Cincinnati Bengals and Reds, which she was known for being a big fan of. She enjoyed assisting her husband in the garden by focusing on canning vegetables yearly, especially beets, tomatoes, and pickles. In her earlier years, she liked to swim, which led her to teach swimming lessons at Three Centuries Swimming Pool in Waynesville. She always hated that they closed the public pool. Jane loved the Ohio Sauerkraut Festival in Waynesville and did not miss a year for over 30 years. She also enjoyed organizing family get-togethers, watching crime shows on TV, crafts, scrapbooking, photography organization via Shutterfly, and collecting Longaberger baskets. While the kids were growing up, it became a tradition for Jane and the family to travel to Gatlinburg and many beach vacations over the years. Some notable beaches they visited included Pensacola Beach, Panama City Beach, and Myrtle Beach. In recent years, the family traveled to Emerald Isle, part of the Crystal Coast in North Carolina, where she greatly enjoyed the numerous seafood restaurants and sitting on the beach. Each year, they rented a beachfront condo, and the family will never forget how much she loved sitting on the beach, taking in the ocean sounds, the salty air, and the warm sunshine in quiet serenity. Among many things, she will also be remembered for how much she enjoyed hosting the Christmas holiday get-togethers each year, especially for how she decorated the home, prepared the holiday dinner, and for her unique gift-wrapping skills mastered while working at Elder Beerman. She will also be remembered for her excellent chocolate fudge, delicious Thanksgiving stuffing, and pride in being a mother to her kids and a grandma to her granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Betty Churko. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Michael; son, Adam Jones; daughter, Betsy (Jim) Martin; one granddaughter, Haylee.
The family will receive friends from Noon - 2 PM Saturday, September 10, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. A celebration of life service will immediately follow the visitation at 2 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor Henry Folgoso will be officiating the services. It is the desire of the family for Jane’s service to be an upbeat celebration of her life, and they encourage you to dress casually.
If desired and on behalf of Jane’s love of the Sauerkraut Festival, contributions may be made in her memory to the Ohio Sauerkraut Festival Scholarship Awards, C/O Waynesville Chamber of Commerce, P. O. Box 281, Waynesville, Ohio 45068. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
