To All The Family--
I was so saddened to read of your mother's passing, and I'm so sorry to be so late with my condolences. I let time slip away, but you were always in my thoughts in prayers. I remember her wonderful articles in the Western Star, and especially of growing up and knowing everyone at the house on the corner. As Jane Kenrick wrote, she was a very important part of my growing up. To Janet's Family;
I worked with your mom at the western star from 1975 until 1986 -- she was a friend, a mentor, a co-conspirator -- a wit and wisdom you could always rely on.
She fretted about each of you in turn, sometimes several of you at one time.
She was always there for me, and we laughed, worked and commisserated together.
I'm sorry we lost touch - I've thought of her often over the intervening years.
She was special. I was fortunate to know her.
My best to you all.

I have many many fond memories of cousin Janet when we were all children and visited in Blanchester for Whitacre Family Reunions. She was a very special person.

The Ralph and Frances branch of the Harlan Whitacre family send sincere condolences on the loss of our cousin Janet. We will ever remember Janet's words at the reunion and in the Western Star. All of us treasured her Mother Tongue columns and saved so many. Grandma sent them to Aunt Jean in Indiana, and Mom sent them to New York state and Michigan to my sisters there.
