Janette A. Earnhart's Obituary
EARNHART, Janette A., age 101, of Oregonia, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Ohio Living Quaker Heights in Waynesville.
Janette graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’41.
Extremely family-oriented, loving, happy, and always jovial, Janette was a supportive wife of her husband on the family farm and a caring mother to her children. She was always upbeat and positive and had a great sense of humor and an addictive laugh. She greatly enjoyed sewing and needlework. In addition to making her children clothes during their upbringing, she took pride in making each grandchild a unique keepsake quilt. She was an excellent cook and will always be remembered for her homemade noodles, chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies, and baked bread. Also, when the kids were growing up, Janette kept a nice garden and would freeze and can the vegetables for off-season meals. She even made homemade ketchup using pop bottles.
Janette enjoyed several family traditions during her 101 years of life. She always made the birthdays of her kids and grandkids special. She made them a cake, prepared homemade ice cream, and gathered the family together for their day of celebration. Janette also made Christmas very special. It wasn’t necessarily the gifts that were most important, but the fact that family gathered and enjoyed each other’s company. However, her kids always found it humorous that she wrapped the gifts and hid them in the same place each year, even though they knew the hiding place. Along with her husband and several close friends, Janette also enjoyed the tradition of traveling to Lettuce Lake in Port Charlotte, Florida, and later to Arcadia, Florida, each winter. While her husband spent his days fishing, Janette would join the ladies in the campground for daily craft-making. Among many things, she will be remembered for her love of driving the tractor on the farm and her love of orange-flavored pop. Of course, how she cared for and supported her family will always be what she is remembered for most.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, in 2013; two sons, Elwood and Glenn Earnhart; her parents, Frank and Edith Kurfiss; and her sister, Wiladean. She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Richard) McKibben and Barbara (Ronald) Fairchild; daughter-in-law, Connie Earnhart (Glenn's wife); eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 5, at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. Celebrant Katie Mackoway will be officiating the service. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. If desired and in Janette’s memory, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
