Janina M. Moran's Obituary
MORAN, Janina M., age 97, of Yellow Springs and formerly of Xenia, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Friends Care Community Center in Yellow Springs.
Janina graduated from Harveysburg High School, class of ’42. Janina worked at Elano as E.J. Nutter’s lead accountant for 25 years before retiring. Subsequently, she came out of retirement and went to work at Montgomery County Financial Department. Janina was also very patriotic, she served 40 plus years as a member of the woman’s auxiliary for the VFW in Harveysburg. She loved to go to casinos and play slot machines. She looked forward to taking trips with her sister on the “casino tour bus.” Later in life, she picked up playing bingo and would play it religiously while living at the nursing home. She greatly enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and reading, especially Reader’s Digest. Janina was one of the strongest woman many people knew; she was funny and had a feisty personality up until the very end. She was kind-hearted and took care of others before herself. She loved cooking anything and everything, especially when it allowed the family to come together. During Thanksgiving, her potato rolls were always a big hit. Among many things, she will be remembered for her love for her family and how she brought everyone together.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1995; two sons, Kevin and Ronald Moran; her mother, Amelia Gordon; two brothers, Donald “Donnie” and Bern J. Gordon; and one sister, Wanda Carter. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Tracy Moran; four grandchildren, Kevin and Charles Moran, Hannah (Scott) Moorman, and Bryan (Kim) Wood; five great-grandchildren, Elexis Moran, Madyson Moorman, Landen Moorman, Drew Wood, and Ethan Wood; three sisters, Ida Frances Mobley, Shirley McElferesh, and Sharon Anderson; and numerous wonderful nephews and nieces. Janina also leaves behind another family that she found at Friends Care Community. For almost the last five years, they have taken care of and loved Janina unconditionally. Janina will be missed dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, January 17, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. The family will receive friends 11 AM - 1 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to the Friends Care Community Center, 150 E. Herman St., Yellow Springs, Ohio 45387.
