Jay W. Collins' Obituary
COLLINS, Jay W., age 85, of Morrow and formally of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023, at his residence.
Jay honorably served in the United States Army. He had an unending faith in God and taught Sunday School for several years.
He was a quiet man, but his life spoke with strength and courage that the life in Christ Jesus is a rewarding gift. Giving, gentle, and caring, Jay never complained and greatly enjoyed being around people. He lived with his former wife for 17 years in the Melbourne Beach area of Florida. In recent years, he greatly enjoyed traveling back to Melbourne to spend the winters with his current wife. Walking the beach, sitting on the balcony looking out at the water, and enjoying the weather were some of his favorite ways to spend time in Florida. His favorite hobby was fishing from the bank, a boat, or anywhere he could cast a line. He enjoyed the tradition of traveling to Canada to fish with his brother and, most recently, with his nephew. They stayed at a campground on the lake and spent their time enjoying each other’s company and the natural serenity that the Canadian waters provided. Earlier in his life, Jay also enjoyed golf. During his later years, sitting on his porch watching the birds sing and feeling the sunshine on his face became a favorite pastime. He will be remembered for his favorite meal: fish - fried, baked, or cooked any other way. Of course, he will be remembered most for his faith in Christ and dedication to the word of God via the Bible.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie, in 2013, a grandson, Matthew Cramer, and his parents, Adie and Viola Collins. He is survived by his current wife, Bonnie J. Bishop-Collins; a son, Terry (Debbie) Cramer; one grandson, Brian Cramer; one brother, Jack Collins; and one sister, Lucy Arvin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, December 28, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. The family will receive friends one hour before the service on Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
