JoAnn Yount's Obituary
YOUNT, JoAnn, age 85, of Huber Heights, passed away Wed., Dec. 11, 2019 at Trinity Community at Fairborn (formerly Patriot Ridge).
JoAnn worked over 40 years as a daycare teacher at the Huber Heights First Baptist Church. The daycare center at that church was highly regarded in Huber Heights as one of the leading early childhood developmental facilities in the area, and JoAnn was part of a team that was a major reason for that reputation. She was also a member of the Huber Heights First Baptist Church for most of her adult life, nearly 63 years.
Loving and occasionally ornery, JoAnn always saw the good in others. She was affectionally called “Mamaw” by most people, having touched the lives of so many kids throughout the Huber Heights area during their upbringing. She enjoyed attending her card club, collecting angels and bells, spending time with her kids and grandchildren, and gospel music-especially the Gaither Brothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe in 2013; one daughter Jenny Ryan; her parents Turner and Jeanette Skidmore; and two brothers Phillip and Roy Skidmore. She is survived by three children Judi (Dave) Manning, Joe (Stephanie) Yount, and Jerome (Sally) Yount; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren with one on the way; one brother Dennis (Dorothy) Skidmore; two sisters Georgia (Wilbur) Fink and Mary (Don) Sexton; and special friends Jerry & Melva Arnold and Helen Neikirk.
“Mom was the best, brightest, and most decent part of our family. We will do our best to make her proud going forward. She was a true angel on earth!”
Funeral services will be held 1 PM Fri., Dec. 13 at the Huber Heights First Baptist Church. Tim Binns will be officiating. Burial will be in Willow View Cemetery. The family will receive friends 11 AM - 1 PM Fri. at the church. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
