Johanna "Jo" Lee Rich's Obituary
Johanna "Jo" Lee Rich added her final piece to her greatest puzzle Saturday May 29, 2021 at her home in Waynesville with her loving family. She was 82 years old.
Jo graduated from Harveysburg High School, where she participated in cheerleading and girls basketball. Following high school, she worked at Burger Iron and NCR, before retiring from Airborne in Wilmington after 14 years of service to the company. Following her retirement, she went back to work for Majestic Springs Golf Course for a few more years. In addition, she was an active participant in the Harveysburg Historical Society.
Spunky, caring, loving, outgoing, optimistic, and kind, Jo could also be stubborn in a funny way. As a farmer’s wife, she greatly enjoyed assisting her husband on the farm and in more recent years driving her golf cart around the property. She also enjoyed cutting the grass, snapping green beans, watching John Wayne movies, and listening to country music. However, her favorite hobbies were putting together jigsaw puzzles, sewing and making custom pillows as gifts, socializing with visitors, and attending her granddaughter’s basketball games.
She was famous for her cabbage rolls, veggie trays with dip, potato salad, and her secret stash of candy. She was also well known for her New Year’s celebrations with her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Dick” in 1998; an infant son Thomas Joseph; her parents Hank and Irene Huddleson; her brother John Huddleson; and her sister Frances Andrews. She is survived by her two children Mike Rich (Beverly) and Pam (Ron) Rittinger; grandchildren Hailee, Madi, Gabby, Logan and Garrett; two sisters Sharon (Huddleson) Fisher and Alma Plummer; several nieces and nephews; and her loving great-grand fur babies.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM Wednesday, June 2 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Burial will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens. Dr. Dan Flory will be celebrating Johanna’s life as Celebrant. The family will receive friends 11 AM - 1 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to Community Care Hospice and/or the National Kidney Foundation. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
