John A. Nienaber's Obituary
NIENABER, John A., age 72, of Waynesville and formerly of Fairborn, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022.
John worked for nearly 30 years for General Motors in Dayton. In addition, he owned and operated an ice cream truck where he provided kids and families with treats in the Fairborn neighborhoods.
Frugal about his own life, John was giving, loving, and caring to others. He took pride in assisting his friends and family in financial and personal matters. He also took pride in restoring, maintaining, and keeping a simple motorcycle. In addition, he enjoyed working on cars, which he always appreciated the beauty of. His favorite automobile was a ’57 Chevy that he had owned for a while and his beloved ice cream truck that he owns today. In his free time, he enjoyed time on his computer researching financial details and keeping up with the news. He especially enjoyed Fox News and the commentary they provided. He always looked forward to each year when he traveled to Kentucky and Tennessee to spend time with his childhood best friend, which became one of his most enjoyable traditions. During his visits, he spent time rafting on the rapids released from the Norris Lake dam, attending car shows, hanging out, and cutting up with his friend. His friend even built a large treehouse for John to enjoy while he visited. However, his kids, grandchildren, and numerous pets were his pride and joy. Growing up in more of a busy city area, during his later years, he greatly appreciated living in the country where he enjoyed nature, the numerous wild animals that wandered through the property and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Bonnie Nienaber. He is survived by two children, John (Melanie) Nienaber and Toni Nienaber (Doug Saylor); three grandchildren, Jacob Nienaber, Austin Tucker, and Briawna Winkleman; three siblings, Charles (Mary) Nienaber, Vicki (Joe) McKae, and Patti (Donnie) Allen; and his beloved shared dog, Milford.
A private family celebration of life service will be held at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville, with Celebrant, Katie Mackoway, officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. If desired, contributions may be made to Ohio Hospice of Dayton or the Greene County Humane Society. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
