John A. Short Sr.'s Obituary
SHORT, John A. Sr., age 77, of Waynesville, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023.
John honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In addition, he retired from General Motors near the year 2000 after a 30-year career.
Helpful, caring, and extremely hardworking, John was somewhat reserved, fun to be around, and always doing for his family. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting on the family farm, splitting wood, and seeking out hidden keepsakes with his metal detector. He also enjoyed playing the lottery, especially scratch-off tickets and Pick 3 games, in pursuit of that big reward. He will be remembered for his lifelong work ethic, the pride he took in doing anything and everything for his family, and his immense love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha Short. He is survived by his son, John Short Jr. (Christina); daughter, Melissa (Roy) Rogers; grandson, John (Kristina) Short III; granddaughters, Julianna and Aubrie; and three great-grandchildren, Aidan, Bailey, Colton, and Nova.
Private family services. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. Celebrate Brian Bennett will be officiating the services. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
