John A Stone's Obituary
STONE, John A, age 75, of Lebanon, was born in Yuba City, California, and raised in Coweta, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, July 14, 2023, at Bethesda North Hospital with family by his side.
John A graduated from High School in Oklahoma, class of ’66. He attended Lee University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Leadership and a Master of Science and Leadership from Liberty University. He was a Bishop of the Church of God of Prophecy (COGOP) and, for the last 15 years of being in ministry, lived in Cleveland, TN. He was considered a kind, pleasant, quiet gentleman until you got him behind a pulpit. He officially retired in 2015, after 48 years of serving as a Pastor, and was incredibly proud of how long he was able to spread the Gospel. Pastoring and ministering were his life.
Ever since he was a young child, he immensely enjoyed fishing. In High School, he played basketball and was the quarterback on the football team. Even though he didn’t get to play much golf due to his work, he loved the game. His favorite holiday was Christmas; his sister Fern always made it special. He loved making memories with his family; countless times, they would find themselves playing games or cards. His wonderful wife and three children were his pride and joy in his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Randall and Mary “Lunartha” Stone, and one brother, Dallas “Toby” Stone. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy; two sons, John (DeeDee- Emily) Stone Jr. and Shahne (Missy) Stone; one daughter, Tammy (Larry) Endecott; eight grandchildren, Logan (Bethany) Stone, Breanna Endecott, Evan (Adair) Stone, Nathan Endecott, Brittany (Spencer) Smith, Dallas (Samantha Weaver) Stone, Brittany Endecott, and Caitlyn Stone; five great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Marlowe, Ariella, Selah, and Uriah; two brothers, James Stone and Duke (Shirlene) Stone; and two sisters, Barbara Newlun and Velma “Fern” Wood.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday, July 20, with family receiving friends from 1 - 2:30 PM at Countryside Church of the Nazarene in Lebanon, Ohio. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gift cards to help ease any burdens the family may occur in the weeks to come.
