Karlie L. Wheelen's Obituary
WHEELEN, Karlie L., age 33, of Lebanon and formerly of Waynesville, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023.
Karlie graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’08. Fun-loving, outgoing, and always happy, Karlie was always upbeat and positive, with a smile that lit up the room. She greatly enjoyed listening to music, especially country and southern rock. Having Muscular Dystrophy, she had limitations with mobility. However, her love of motorcycles and attending field parties and poker runs was not any less fun for her. It was a bond with her dad and his love of motorcycles that she greatly enjoyed. Spending time with her friends and family became one of Karlie’s favorite hobbies. She especially enjoyed field parties and camping with friends and family at Longs Retreat and Coldcreek Farm. Sitting around the campfire, sharing stories, and laughing well into the night became one of her favorite traditions. With fall being her favorite time of the year, she will be remembered for how much she enjoyed the cooler weather, the changing of the leaves, and the motorcycle Hill Climb that occurred every year. Of course, when Christmas came around, she loved putting up the tree, assisting with decorations, snow, and watching the twinkling lights outside. Among many things, she will be remembered for her love of butterflies and flowers.
She is survived by her mom, Kelli Wheelen; dad, Earl “Mooch” Wheelen; one brother, Kristepher Wheelen; two sisters, Taylor Wheelen and Kelsie Wheelen; special nieces and nephew, Raelyn Montgomery, Harper Scheadler, Abigail George, Natalie George, and John Lucas George; aunts, Kim Fox, Karen Porter, Rebecca Wheelen, and Esther Wheelen; uncles, Larry Porter, Rodney Wheelen Sr., and Jesse Wheelen; great uncle, Dennis Dalton; and many extended family and close friends.
Funeral services will be 1 PM on Friday, October 20 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. The family will receive friends from 11 AM - 1 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made directly toward the funeral expenses by calling the funeral home or contacting the family. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
