Kathy J. Furnas' Obituary
FURNAS, Kathy J., age 65, of Waynesville, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021, at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton.
Kathy worked for nearly 20 years for Quaker Heights Nursing Home in Waynesville and ultimately retired from Life Care in Miamisburg as a Nurse Case Manager. Combined, she worked for over 30 years, assisting in the personal care of people in need.
Outgoing, loving, fun, caring, kind, compassionate, generous, and a good listener, Kathy had a beautiful spirit, was always positive, and was respected and loved by her family, friends, and coworkers. She greatly enjoyed playing Bingo and playing the slots at Miami Valley Gaming. She also enjoyed attending concerts, with Vince Gill, Reba, and Alabama being some of her favorite shows attended. In fact, she loved going to Belterra Casino, where she could merge two of her favorite hobbies, hitting a country show and playing the slots. She liked to read and was always reading some type of current event magazine or fiction novel, especially novels that contained a medical-related interest. However, her greatest passion in life was spending time with her family, especially the grandkids and family gatherings. She always cherished the birthday and holidays gatherings with family. It became a tradition for her to make a big breakfast for her family on Christmas morning and homemade chili on Halloween for the trick-or-treating kids to get warm after strolling the neighborhood. For several years, the family traveled to Myrtle Beach for a classic beach vacation, which she always cherished.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Chuck and Marilyn Lamb. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Doug; three children Dale (Laura) Stacy, Matthew (Andrea) Bly, and Laura (Kurtis) Servis; six grandchildren Mikayla, Benjamin, Andrew, Emma, Waylon, and Wyatt; one sister Tammy (Richard) Gibson; and two nieces Morgan and Madison Gibson.
The family will receive friends 6 - 8 PM Wednesday, December 22 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. At the funeral home, a funeral service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, December 23. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. If desired, contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
