PUMMILL, Keith A., age 71, of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
Keith graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’71. While in High School, he ran track and was very good at the hurdles. He honorably served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in San Diego and Hawaii. Upon returning home from the military, he worked at Goodyear in Wilmington. He then built engines for seven years at GE in Evandale, Milacron, and Dave Chaney Tires. In addition, he was a community corrections officer at the Warren County Jail. He retired on July 1, 2022, as a security officer for Allied Universal.
When he was younger, he enjoyed playing a round of golf. His favorite hobbies included fishing and boating. He especially enjoyed going to Cowan Lake or Caeser Creek Lake. His most memorable trip was when they traveled to Pelee Island for a week. His other hobbies were riding his motorcycle and going to the gun range. He was a regular at Range USA and the Spring Valley Range. He loved classic cars and had a ’67 Corvette when he was younger. As a quiet persona, he kept to himself and was happy staying home. He loved his dogs and cats, which were great companions to him. However, on his travels and adventures, he collected ball caps. On one memorable trip, he took a cruise through Spain and Italy. He looked forward to family gatherings, especially when they all got together for Christmas. Among many things, he was very proud of being a dependable, hard worker who did well for himself and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Patricia Pummill, and one brother, Harley Pummill. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Jeannine Pummill; two brothers, Marvin (Tessie) Pummill and Rhonie (Karen) Pummill; numerous nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
