Kenneth "Dean" Milburn's Obituary
MILBURN, Kenneth “Dean,” age 90, of Waynesville, and formerly of Miamisburg, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Kettering Health Main Campus.
Dean served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, a period of his life that he remembered with honor and pride. He went on to work for Flowserve Corporation in Dayton for 30 years before retiring in 1996. Work was not just a job for Dean; it was a central part of his life.
Caring, helpful, and family-oriented, Dean was known for his outgoing nature. He loved to talk and had a great sense of humor. Family time was special to Dean, whether it was helping his children on their various projects, taking family trips, or sitting around the table to share a meal. Dean had a great love for food and especially enjoyed his wife’s fried potatoes, pinto beans, cornbread, and onions. Weekly family gatherings at his mother’s home for a hearty meal was also a cherished tradition. One of Dean’s favorite memories was a family road trip to Yellowstone National Park in their Volkswagen bus. This adventure was a testament to his desire to create lasting memories with his family, traveling across the country and visiting iconic landmarks. Dean enjoyed going for drives and was particularly fond of cruising in his Chevy Silverado. In more recent years, he found great satisfaction in yard work and took pride in maintaining his lawn and shoveling the driveway. Despite all of his accomplishments in his professional and personal life, nothing made Dean more proud than his family, especially his children.
Dean was preceded in death by his father, George “Wilford” Milburn; his mother, Mary Mae Wilson; two brothers, Charlie Milburn and Jerry Milburn; and daughter-in-law, Kathryn Milburn. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Glenda Milburn; three sons, George (Amy) Milburn, David Milburn, and Andrew Milburn; two daughters, Deborah (Jerry) Williams and Cynthia (David) Hall; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Milburn and Frank (Nancy) Milburn; and two sisters, Dolly Landis and Hazel Huffard.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, Wednesday, August 28, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Brian Bennett will be officiating the services. Burial will be at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. If desired, contributions may be made to Operation Smile, a charitable organization assisting children with cleft lip and cleft palate. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
