Larry A. Stevens' Obituary
STEVENS, Larry A., age 70, of Wilmington, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021.
Larry retired as a supervisor from Airborne in Wilmington in 2008 after 21 years of service. After he retired from Airborne, he worked a few years at Kroger’s in Wilmington to keep busy.
Business minded, organized, and quiet, Larry enjoyed spending time at home and tinkering around the house. He loved woodworking. He made many beautiful wood furnishings over the years, among those an ornate spice rack, a sofa table, two pantry pieces, a gun rack, and a hope chest for his daughter. He also liked being outdoors and enjoyed vegetable gardening and keeping his lawn mowed meticulously. He was a Harley guy and owned many motorcycles over the years. He was also a fan of NASCAR, and even raced his own cars at Kil-Kare Speedway when he was younger. Among many things, he will be remembered for how much he enjoyed visiting Gatlinburg, the music scene at Renfro Valley in Kentucky, and visiting his aunt in Crab Orchard, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Mildred Stevens; his brother Jeff Stevens; and one sister Brenda Stevens. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jackie; son Ted (Deana) Stevens; daughter Mindi Stevens; two grandchildren Dylan and Trenton; one sister Linda (Mickula) Gordley; and his aunt Alvina Baker.
A graveside memorial service will be scheduled in the future at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
