Lawrence "Larry" Richard Cline Jr.'s Obituary
CLINE, Lawrence "Larry" Richard, Jr., age 68, of Waynesville, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022, at the Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties.
Larry graduated from Niles McKinley High School, class of '72. He retired from R. L. Drake in 2012 after 25 years of service.
Described as a quiet gentleman, Larry loved to help others and tried his hand at everything, including drywall, electrical, and plumbing jobs. He loved working with his hands, especially woodworking. He would create beautiful pieces of art out of wood. In addition, he immensely enjoyed spending time outdoors. He learned to hunt with his dad and kept up the tradition of hunting small game, ultimately becoming an experienced deer hunter. He also greatly enjoyed camping and fishing. If there was a body of water, you could guarantee that Larry would be there with a fishing pole. He always had a pickup truck, probably for all the tools, gadgets, and chainsaws he collected over the years.
He loved his house and the stories behind how it became a home. Countless memories were made with his son, Tim, as they collected bricks from down the street to build the hearth in addition to bringing the wood back from his grandfather's sawmill in West Virginia. Each intricate detail made Larry proud of his hard work, dedication, and the retention of his family heritage. He was a storyteller and left the family with many beautiful memories. He had a tradition of traveling to his parent's home each year for Thanksgiving, even if it was late into the night before they started traveling. The family will never forget the annual holiday traditions of having a big family Christmas breakfast each year with honey-glazed ham, orange juice, biscuits and gravy, and a train that would run around the Christmas tree. Among many things, he will be remembered for his love of his family and how he always looked forward to getting everyone together.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Richard Cline, Sr., in 2018. He is survived by his fiancée and significant other of 20 years, Bobbie Oney; his mother, Peggy Ann Cline; one son, Tim (Noelle) Cline; daughter, Lisa (Chris) Perry; step-daughter, Kelly (Jacob) Bowser; ten grandchildren, Samuel (Rachael) Pyle, Lauren Perry, Nicholas Perry, Merrick Mansaray, Julia (Noah) Pittman, Abigail Cline, Isabelle Cline, Lincoln Cline, Levi Cline, Ivy Ella Bowser; one great-grandchild, Sawyer Pittman; one sister, Judy (Dennis) Lowstetter; and two nephews, Michael (Erin) Lowstetter and Matthew (Missy) Lowstetter.
The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 PM Sunday, October 16, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Dale McCloud will be officiating. The burial will be 2 PM Monday, October 17, at Miami Cemetery in Corwin.
