Linda K. Walters' Obituary
WALTERS, Linda K., age 65, of Waynesville, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022, at OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
Linda graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’74. She was a Waynesville United Methodist Church member, but she had become active in the Dryden Road Pentecostal Church in Dayton in recent years.
Persistent, helpful, giving, loving, caring, and outgoing, Linda was described humorously as having “Stiver stubbornness.” She described herself on Facebook as a “retired pool floater” because she loves spending time with family and friends in her backyard swimming pool. She also enjoyed gardening and canning, especially tomatoes and cucumbers, flower gardening, and landscaping her yard. She loved fast cars and often attended car shows with her husband, Tom. She even entered her car in a show in her name and earned a first-place win. In addition, she was the proud owner of a ’67 Pontiac GTO for quite some time. In addition to the typical family traditions of hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas family get-togethers, it became a tradition for Linda, Tom, and the kids to visit Gatlinburg regularly. They often visited in September during the Rod Run Car Show, which was always a good time. In addition, they often created many more family memories by spending long weekends in Southern Ohio camping at Long’s Retreat. The Sunday dinners at Grandma Corn’s house were another fond tradition that Linda enjoyed over the years. If you knew Linda well, you know that she started every day with a Pepsi, enjoyed the occasional Michelob Ultra, and insisted on pulling the tabs off aluminum pop cans to donate to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. If she found a sale at the grocery, she insisted on buying multiples of the product. Her pantry always consisted strangely of way more than she needed of basic items, for example - mustard, which she had more than she could enjoy in a year. She was also known to buy every As Seen On Tv item she could afford. Among many things, she will be remembered for how much love and pride she had in being a grandma to her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Walters; her parents, Carl Sr. and Joanne Stiver; and one brother, Carl E. Stiver, Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Brandy (Kevin) Wilson and Stephanie (Brandon) LeForge; five grandchildren, Hunter Wilson, Cameron (Evan) Risley, Kailyn Whittenburg, Tony Whittenburg, and Thomas Whittenburg; three great-grandchildren, Roman, Vada, and Colter; one brother, Charles “Chuck” (Geri) Stiver; two sisters, Judi Ross and Karen McIntosh; brothers-in-law, Jimmy, Raymond, and Dana Walters; sisters-in-law, Linda Renner, Marla Walters, Barbara Mason, and Carol (Jim) Nelson; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, October 21, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Andrew Blevins and Benny Sutherland will be officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. The family will receive friends 5 - 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
