Loren LeRoy Stuckert's Obituary
STUCKERT, Loren LeRoy, age 82, of Wilmington, OH, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
Born on January 14, 1944, Loren began his life beating the odds, being born 3 months prematurely. The doctor doubted he would make it and said, "If he lives, it may only be into his 40’s." Again, Loren beat the odds. That was his nature and proof of his stamina.
Loren graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’62. For more than 20 years, he worked as an Account Representative for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co (NYC, Indianapolis, IN); Vollrath Personal Producing Brokers (his own Agency), and Blue Cross Blue Shield. He was a past member of the Wilmington City Council (2nd ward).
Oddly enough, despite their age difference, Loren and his wife, Sherry, attended college together after an unexpected loss of jobs (a ‘fun and unexpected’ turn of events). Loren earned an associate’s degree in secondary education and teaching from the University of Cincinnati and a bachelor’s degree with majors in history, social studies, and education, and a minor in psychology, from Northern Kentucky University in 1996. He officially retired in 2016, after 20 years of teaching history, economics, and social studies at Wilmington City Schools. Together, they earned the University of Cincinnati Clermont College 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award. Together, they wrote their acceptance speech, and Sherry delivered it because Loren was in the hospital with his third knee replacement. That was the discovery of multiple Myeloma, a blood cancer. He followed his oncologist from The Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Northern KY due to the care and resolution he received for this disease. He and his family were always appreciative of St. Elizabeth Hospital in Northern KY. Upon death, Loren was cancer-free.
Loren was a devoted Christian and loved Biblical research. His passion was reading, and he bought a whole library for his house (both Biblical and historical). He was a scholar with the Bible at the top of his list. Loren was very patriotic and loved his country. He was very proud to see our country's growth. Every day, he would say, “God bless America!” He loved sports, and when he was younger, he enjoyed playing baseball, managing his Waynesville Basketball Team (providing the scores for the coach), and enjoying golf and running track. Loren enjoyed listening to music of all varieties, but especially his kids. Their band, ‘Old Man Stuckert’s Family Band,’ was his favorite, and they have gone on to record, and his oldest son, Rob, is a bass-playing member of multiple bands. Above everything else came his family; he loved them dearly. He was a very devoted husband, father, brother, and friend.
Loren was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Carrie Stuckert; his sister, Virginia Stuckert; his brothers-in-law, John Keating and Tom Pawley; and his best friend, Keith Frasure. His favorite story about Keith was that they ‘drank milk from the same cow,’ as Keith’s and Loren’s parents bought a cow together when they were boys.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Sherry (Deer) Stuckert; four sons, Robert William (Amanda) Stuckert II, Loren “Lonnie” LeRoy (Ashley) Stuckert II, Taylor Moore (Sarah) Stuckert, Charles “Chuck” Albert (Kaity) Stuckert II; one daughter, Joni Marie Dale (Desmond); ten grandchildren, Alora, Stephen, Eric, Miles, Linus, Elyse, Charlie, Lucille, Madison, Crosby, and Kaia Deer; two sisters, Beverly Pawley and Roberta Keating; two nieces (Christene Juhl and Michelle Keating), one sister-in-law, Pam (Chip) Stockdale; and many friends and extended family members.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. A celebration of life will be held once the weather turns warm. Everyone will be welcome, to Loren and Sherry, “family” means both blood and community. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family.
