Lorin H. Hough's Obituary
HOUGH, Lorin H., age 85, of Waynesville, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020 at his residence.
Lorin graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’53. During the course of his life, he was a member of the Waynesville and Lytle United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Future Farmers of America and The Grange.
He was a lifelong farmer in Waynesville, never really retiring, and was well-known for his pumpkins and mums. Especially when he first started, he once grew over 3,000 mums one year and delivered truck loads of pumpkins. In later years, he mainly supplied his family roadside market on Old 73 in Waynesville.
Outgoing, kind-hearted, and caring, he loved talking to people and would often give of himself so that others had enough money. He loved watching the birds, especially the blue jays. He also enjoyed history, most notably the Civil War era, listening to ministers speak on the radio and TV, and reading his Bible in the evenings. His favorite ministers to listen to included Charles Capps, Kenneth Copeland, and Joel Olsteen.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Minerva Hough and one sister Mary Dora Fry. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Deloris; daughter Susan (Jeff) Hetzel; son Kenneth Hough; and two grandchildren Curtis and Trina Hetzel.
A celebration of life service will be held 3 PM Saturday, October 17 at the Lytle United Methodist Church. Pastor Brian Blankenship will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lytle Methodist Church and/or Ohio Hospice of Dayton. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
