Lucy Rinck's Obituary
RINCK, Lucy, age 91, of Miamisburg, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025.
Lucy worked as a beautician for 12 years in her early years. Following her years as a beautician, she worked at General Motors, retiring after 20 years of service to the company. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in West Carrollton.
Loving, caring, accepting, independent and giving, Lucy was often feisty in a good way. She greatly enjoyed bluegrass music, both listening to the music and playing guitar. She also enjoyed writing poetry. She was known as an avid shopper, but without discrimination. She shopped everywhere from the Salvation Army to Von Maur, and everywhere in between. Being family oriented and friendly to everyone, Lucy loved when people stopped over for a visit. With two of her dear friends, Nikki and Yea, she enjoyed playing the dice game, Farkle. Along with her late husband, Lucy enjoyed traveling down to Cincinnati several times each year rooting on the Cincinnati Bengals. They had season tickets for several years, which created many memories cheering on the orange and black. Lucy’s favorite time of the year was Christmas and she went all out decorating for the season. She especially enjoyed hanging Christmas lights and listening to Christmas music, and she made it a tradition of traveling to Fort St. Clair to view the many lights they displayed. In addition, she hosted Thanksgiving each year, where there were often more than 50 family members and friends in attendance. With a large family, she was always accommodating and she always welcomed the many friends invited by the family. Among many things, she will be remembered for her love of collecting eagles and her love of candy corn, Esther Price Chocolate, and Bit O Honey candy. Humorously, however, she hated chicken and she made sure everyone knew it.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, in 2012; one daughter, Doris Stiver; son-in-law, Finley Morris; her parents, Edward and Addie Baker; four brothers, Clarence, Edward, Carl, and Charles Baker; and four sisters, Margie Keith, Fannie Mae Owens, Wanda Rutherford, and Ann Ruth Mosley. She is survived by her son, Rick (Georgia) Rinck; two daughters, Betty Morris and Becky (Barry) Whitaker; five grandchildren, Heather (Aaron) Crawford, Amanda (Jesse) Shannon, Evan (Andrea) Mosley, Nick Whitaker, Allyson Whitaker; six great-grandchildren, Taylor, Brandon, Audrey, Gavin, Wyatt, and Kelsey; and one brother, Ralph (Grace) Baker.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 1 PM on Wednesday, February 5, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home with Jim Shihady officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton.
