Margaret E. Sparks' Obituary
Sparks, Margaret E., age 97, of Waynesville, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Ohio’s Hospice of Butler Warren County.
Known for her friendly spirit, warm heart, and love of conversation, Margaret cherished time with her family, whom she proudly considered her greatest accomplishment. A devoted homemaker, she found deep joy in nurturing those around her and was a beloved presence in her church and community. She attended the Free Will Baptist Church in Lebanon and especially enjoyed the church group trips. Margaret especially treasured the annual summer reunions in Kentucky, eagerly anticipating the laughter and connection they brought. She also found peace in her vegetable garden, tending it with care and finding beauty in life’s simplest, most meaningful moments.
After the passing of her beloved spouse, Margaret found strength and purpose in the warm embrace of her church family. Her devotion to her faith deepened, as did her presence in the community of church life. Known for her signature apple cake and cornbread, Margaret brought comfort to many through her cooking. Whether preparing meals for her family, church events, or sharing stories with friends in the fellowship hall, she enjoyed being surrounded by those she loved. In addition, she also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and cross-stitching. She could create beautiful pieces with her talented hand stitching. Over the years, she collected pigs and displayed them around the house. Margaret’s life was a testament to kindness, faith, and community. She will be deeply missed by her friends, church family, and all fortunate enough to know her.
Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Kenneth, in 1992; her parents, John and Gertrude Everman; two brothers, Jack and Bob Everman; and one sister, Virginia Hamilton. She is survived by one son, James “Kenny” (Joyce) Sparks; daughter, Judy (Joe) Wiggins; and one grandson, James “Jimmy” Wiggins.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, May 23, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home, with Bob Fisher and Joe Wiggins officiating. Burial will be at Miami Valley Memorial Gardens in Centerville. If desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton. Condolences are available at www.stubbsconner.com.
