Marilyn Kay Combs' Obituary
COMBS, Marilyn Kay, age 88, of Waynesville, passed away Friday, August 19, 2022, at Miami Valley Hospital South.
Marilyn graduated from Sabina High School, class of ’52. She worked at Waynesville National Bank for 18 years. Working at Waynesville National Bank was probably her favorite job; Marilyn loved greeting the customers and talking to them. Following the bank, she worked for an additional 18 years at Elder-Beerman, and officially retired in 2006. She was a longtime member of the Ferry Church of Christ/Crossview Christian in Waynesville but had recently attended the Heritage Christian Church in Centerville. Marilyn was very friendly, caring, loving, kind, and spunky, devoted to God, her family, and her church. She taught Sunday School for over 20 years at the Ferry Church of Christ and was one of the first Tuesday School teachers. She was also a member of the Progressive Women’s Club of Waynesville.
Shopping was one of Marilyn’s favorite things to do. She loved being able to go shopping for those she loved. There was always a special place in her heart for her two dogs, Gabby and Maggie. Among many things, she will be remembered for how much she and her family enjoyed traveling to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge with her brother-in-law’s family in the spring and fall, ultimately staying in a condo that they purchased. She also cherished going to Nashville for the Grand Ole Opry and visiting Dollywood. She was very proud of the beautiful life she got to share with her husband of almost 70 years and her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene “Gene” in 2021; her parents, Walter and Edna Locke; and one brother, Phillip Locke. She is survived by her two sons Barry (Kimberly) Combs and Doug (Sherry) Combs; four grandchildren, Benjamin (Ashley) Combs, Rebekkah (Billy) Gosney, LeAnn (Drew) Long, and Tessa (Mick) Roth; seven great-grandchildren, Maddy Combs, Dakotah Gosney, Rachel Combs, Ridge Gosney, Elizabeth Combs, Ben Combs, Eleanor Long, Hazel Roth, and Theodore Long; one brother John (Cheryl) Locke; and sister-in-law Kay Locke.
