Marjorie A. Lamb's Obituary
LAMB, Marjorie A., age 82, of Waynesville, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties.
Marjorie retired in 1990 as a Nurse Aid after working nearly 20 years for Quaker Heights Nursing Home in Waynesville. She was a member of Well of Grace Church in Lebanon.
Marjorie was fashionable with her clothes and hair. In addition, she was supportive, prayerful and protective of her family. Due to her dark sunglasses, she was called “Hollywood” by church members, even though it was due to some eye issues. When she was younger, her family sometimes remembers her being goofy and funny. In addition, she loved to dance with her kids at home while they were young. Her favorite hobby was watching Jimmy Swaggart on TV - with the volume turned up loud. She also enjoyed taking care of her flowers and plants, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren. Although she didn’t drive, she bonded with family and friends during her weekly shopping trips, especially her favorite store Elder Beerman. She was an excellent cook and took pride in cooking every meal at home. It became a bit of a tradition for Marjorie and Norman to travel to Gatlinburg with family over the years. They would often travel down for a single night, to walk the strip and take in the action before returning home. They also enjoyed traveling to Florida on multiple occasions. The family was always amused at their insistence on traveling the long trip down and back to care for their youngest daughter by changing the oil in her car. Perhaps, the journey to and from a travel destination became as entertaining for Marjorie and Norman as the ultimate destination. She collected baby and other figurines, which Norman often purchased in Gatlinburg for Marjorie, and oil lamps. Among many things, she will be remembered for how proud she was of her kids and for how delicious her fried chicken, dumplings, and turkey dressing were that she made for Thanksgiving.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Norman, in 2014; her parents, Enos and Ruth Gillman; one brother, Richard Gilliam; and three sisters, Shirley Gillman, Bonnie Bailey, and Delores Huffman. She is survived by four children, Melinda (Greg) Anspach, Crystal (Bill) Fox, Shayne (Sandy) Lamb, and Amy (Matthew) Monroe; seven grandchildren, Christoper Anspach, Jill (Don) Storer, Curtis Maynard, Ben Lamb, Harley Cole, Lyla Monroe, and Greyson Monroe; seven great-grandchildren, C.J., Brooklyn, Jordan, Tyler, Cody, Kelly, and Evan; and three great-great-grandchildren, Kameron, Aria, and Damon.
A graveside service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, November 2, at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. Bruce Lamb and Charlene Purkey will be leading the services. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research or the Waynesville Food Pantry.
