Marlene Bailey's Obituary
BAILEY, Marlene, age 80, of Middletown and formerly of West Chester and Waynesville, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025.
Marlene worked more than 40 years in the medical field, mainly within nursing homes and hospitals. She grew up attending Pentecostal churches and held deep faith her entire life, most recently attending the Miamisburg Temple of Praise. When she was young, she often sang in church, which was motivated by her mother.
Outgoing, friendly, kind, caring, and somewhat independent, Marlene was family-oriented and was known for her generous smile. She loved the peace and quiet of being home, which allowed her to enjoy working word search puzzles, watching police dramas and westerns on TV, and making her famous peanut butter fudge. She also enjoyed fishing from time to time. At least a couple of times each year during the summer, Marlene and her family enjoyed family get-togethers. The family enjoyed time around the bonfire and campouts, but Marlene always provided some fun with the aid of balloons. She especially liked bouncing balloons to the kids for fun. Among many things, Marlene will be remembered for her love of Elvis and Betty Boop, the color purple, and her beloved cat, Luna, who she spoiled endlessly. Many years ago, she also cared for a dog, who she called Rascal.
Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, in 2022; her parents, Mark Powell and Betty Lamb; and her twin sister, Alene McFarland. She is survived by two sons, Larry Ray (Mary) Bailey and Leon Bailey; one daughter, Clover Anderson (Ken Ferbrache); seven grandchildren, Michelle (Bobby) Kelly, Jessica Lawson, Trenton Bailey, John (Lily) Anderson, Dallas Bailey, Aaryah Freytag, and Benji Freytag; step-grandson Mark (Hannah) Legg; seven great-grandchildren, Lilah, Leo, Peyton, Logan, Victoria, Willow, and Asher; three step-great-grandchildren Caleb, Breanna, and Miley; step-great-great-granddaughter Grace; three brothers, Herbert Powell, Joe (Vi) Powell, and Johnny Williamson; and two sisters, Susy “Desi” Kerr and Nona Shope.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Life Celebrant Katie Mackoway will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
