Martha Bell Carter's Obituary
CARTER, Martha Bell, age 94, of Miamisburg, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton.
Martha retired from GM-Inland while she was in her ’50’s after 35 years of service.
Independent, self-sufficient, ornery, family-oriented, and fun-loving, Martha was always laughing. She greatly enjoyed fishing and playing cards with family and friends. She especially loved sewing blankets and crocheting little house shoes. Trips to Grand Lake St. Marys were some of her fondest times during her life, which of course revolved around playing cards, fishing, and spending time with family. She wasn’t slack at fishing either. She would put out four lines and mainly fish for catfish and crappy. She had style too. She purchased two Mercedes over the years, a yellow one and a gold one, and she always made sure they were taken care of properly and on schedule. She always tried to schedule her hair appointments to follow her oil change appointments. In addition, she became well known for wearing nice clothes and plenty of makeup while working on the assembly line at GM. Among many things, she will be remembered for how supportive she was to family, always going out of her way to attend children and grandchildren’s events and sporting events.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony; one son William Ralph Morrison; her parents Charlie and Adeline Scott; three brothers Nevil, William, and Harold; and three sisters Dovie, Sylvia, and Little Marie. She is survived by her son Tony Calvin (Sam) Carter; daughter Patricia (Tim) Lamb; five grandchildren Toni Lynn (Kevin) Brooks, Julie Morrison, April (Bill) Barth, Shannon Kikta (Cheri Simpson), and Niki (Mike) Robinson; five great-grandchildren Isaiah, Maguire, Alicia, Zachary, and Madison; and great-great-granddaughter Reagan; and her sister Lizzie Chambers.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, August 9 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Burial will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens. Mike Robinson will be officiating the services. The family will receive friends 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
