Martha Estelle Sharp's Obituary
SHARP, Martha Estelle, age 84, of Waynesville, made heaven her home on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.
She was born on July 7, 1936, in Williamsburg, Kentucky, to the late Willie and Ernie Garrett. Estelle wed the love of her life, Jack D. “JD” Sharp, on March 18, 1957. They made their home in Corwin, Ohio, and remained in there throughout their life. JD and Estelle welcomed their only child, David Wayne, on March 20, 1958. David was a devoted son who cared for his parents like no other. A very special daughter-in-law, Diana, joined the family in 1988. Diana loved and cared for Estelle just as if she were her own mother.
Estelle greatly enjoyed bluegrass music, fishing, camping, and cooking for those she loved. Family favorites were fried fish, chicken and dumplings, cornbread, and delicious ham - a ham that all looked forward to and often asked her to make for family gatherings and church suppers. Estelle was also known to fry the best steaks around.
She was jolly, thoughtful, and caring. Estelle made daily calls to others just to check on them, making sure they were okay, and share weather news if storms were ahead. When leaving Estelle's home or hanging up the phone, she would always tell you, "be careful." She was lifelong homemaker, taking pride in being a dedicated wife and doting mother. Estelle was a treasured bonus grandmother to whom she fondly called, "Annie and Andy," leaving each with an abundance of precious memories. Joshua and Justin Butler were known as honorary grandsons and made Estelle's home a must-do stop when coming to Ohio. Estelle was a member of the Corwin Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Jack; sisters, Shirley Monhollan and Mary Barnhart; brothers, Everett Garrett, Lee Garrett, James Garrett, Manuel Garrett, and Joe Garrett; special sister-in-law, Easter Garrett Taylor; and special best friend, Pauline Butler. Estelle is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Diana Sharp; sister, Dorothy (Dewey) Brown; brother-in-law, Raymond (Barbara) Sharp; dear friend, Elmer Butler; a host of nieces and nephews including treasured nieces, Sue (Dave) Lamb and Darla (Tom) Sackett; and Dr. Andrea (Matthew) Sackett-McKeever, Andy Sackett, Joshua Butler, Justin Butler, of whom she was a deeply cherished bonus grandmother. Estelle will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Private services will be held 12 PM Saturday, January 30 at the Corwin Pentecostal Church. Rev. Phillip Hoskins will be officiating. If desired, contributions may be made to Corwin Pentecostal Church, 45 New Burlington Rd., Corwin, Ohio 45068.
During this difficult time, if you are feeling ill or unhealthy in any way, you are encouraged to pay your respects in alternative methods, such as sending a sympathy card or sharing a memory though our online tribute wall. In addition, the services will be streamed live via the Corwin Pentecostal Church’s Facebook page. For those coming to the service, please be sure to bring your mask to wear while you are inside the church.
