Martha Rebecca "Doll Baby" Walters' Obituary
WALTERS, Martha Rebecca “Doll Baby,” age 85, of Franklin, passed away Monday, June 10, 2024, at Kettering Health Miamisburg.
Doll Baby retired in 1987 from GM-Inland after 30 years of service. While at GM, she was able to work with her daughter. She was a loyal member of the House of Prayer and regularly attended church. She was very devoted to sharing the Gospel and her love of Christ.
One of her passions was traveling; she explored all 50 states and seven countries. She traveled to the Holy Land seven times and Hawaii five times. In addition, she traveled numerous times to Florida, Myrtle Beach, and Lake Cumberland. She loved lighthouses and spending time by the ocean. Being the center of attention was her happy place. She was very happy and adventurous; she never let the grass grow beneath her feet and was always on the go. She had a lead foot and enjoyed the open road.
Doll Baby’s passion was creating something beautiful by working with her hands. She designed ceramics and made candles. She had her own business and a booth at the flea market. She was well known for her creative Santa cookie jar, nativity scenes, angels, and carousel horses. When she was younger, she crocheted and made numerous baby blankets. She enjoyed collecting carousel horses, greeting cards, candles, angels, and playing cards. Christmas was her favorite season, and she created sleigh runners for numerous family members and loved ones. She loved being with her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Her brother would take her on motorcycle rides only for them to get back and her to say, “Let’s go again!” She enjoyed going out to eat with her dear friend, Mitchell. She had a soft spot for dogs and raised Pomeranians. Among many things, she will be remembered for always wanting to go somewhere and saying, “I love me now.”
She is proceeded in death by two granddaughters, Rebecca Dawn and April; three great-grandchildren; parents, Dewey and Rhoda Lamb; four brothers, Tim, Chris, Albert, and Daniel; three sisters, Mae, Hallie Bell “Tiny,” and Viola B; and her eating buddy, Mitchel. She is survived by her two daughters, Carol Jean Morton and Vicky Lynn Day; four grandchildren, Heaven, Amanda, Ashley, and La Shai; 16 great-grandchildren; her two dear nephews, Warren and Gabe; her great-nephew, Ben; her great-niece, Pam “Precious”; and her friend that helped in many ways, Gordon.
Great-granddaughter River Rae gave her Grandma angel wings to go to Heaven when she hugged her goodbye.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, at House of Prayer Church in Franklin. Roger Mullins will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. Burial is at Miami Valley Memorial Gardens in Centerville. Condolences are at www.stubbsconner.com.
