Mary Ann Feltz's Obituary
FELTZ, Mary Ann, age 92, of Waynesville, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
May Ann was born July 8, 1932, to Grant “Red” and Beatrice Carnes in Harveysburg. She graduated from Harveysburg High School. She retired in 1994, after 40 years of working as an LPN during the night shift at nursing homes and being the town nurse. Mary Ann was trusted by doctors, patients, and family members. She loved reading medical books and doing research to help others with their ailments. Her love for the medical field showed in how well she took care of those around her. She was a member of the Miami Order of the Eastern Stars. She has been a loyal and devoted member of the Waynesville First Baptist Church for 47 years.
Giving and loving, Mary Ann had a spunky, red-headed temper that made people love her. She could light up a room when she came in. When she was younger, she was asked to harmonize with her sisters on the Midwestern Hayride TV show. She was very talented in sewing, crocheting, and knitting. Her husband was always proud of the shirts she made him. She also had created a large collection of napkins, napkin rings, and kitchen gadgets. Her passion and love language was cooking. She always had something for anyone who helped around the house or stopped by. For family get-togethers, she was known for her homemade egg noodles, with which she would create chicken and noodles for everyone. She was a firm believer in no additives or preservatives and made everything from scratch. She enjoyed eating seafood and vegetables. She had a large collection of cookbooks and recipes and would try to make anything that sounded good. Mary Ann was most well-known for her peanut butter pie and the best carrot cake. Among many things, she will be remembered for the love and pride she had in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Joseph “P.J.” Feltz, in September of 2024; her parents, Grant “Red” Carnes and Beatrice Carnes; and her two sisters, Betty Hopkins and Dorothy Bagford. She is survived by her daughter, Sherrill (Jim) Gallagher; two sons, Donald Kuebler and Russel (Regina) Hiteman; five grandchildren, Jeremy (Brooke) Gallagher, Zach (Jamie) Gallagher, Holly (Ryan) Zates, Leroy (Tiffany) Kiblerer, Mary (Wyatt) Cross; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Tammy Carnes.
Memorial services will be at 12:30 pm on Friday, August 15, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Dale McCloud will be officiating. Burial will be at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm on Friday, August 15, at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton.
