Mary Louise Caldwell's Obituary
CALDWELL, Mary "Louise," age 77, of Middletown, and formerly of Oregonia and Lebanon, all in Ohio, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023, at Carlisle Manor Health Center.
Mary graduated from Lebanon High School, class of '65. She then became a minister of her own church and even traveled between churches, by request, to be a guest minister and singer. She had a deep faith in God and was a constant witness to others.
Mary was a very creative, outgoing person with a beautiful spirit who focused her attention on making others happy. She even completed a program at a clown school so she could volunteer at local children's hospitals and festivals to brighten their day with balloon-making and comical antics. She was an expert landscape painter and was particularly known for painting butterflies and drawing sketches and then gifting them to others. Mary was also very proud of being musically inclined. She was renowned for singing and playing the guitar and piano, among other instruments. As an adult, she went to Kings Island to be part of The Gong Show, where she played her guitar in front of an audience. She was never "gonged" and won second place. Most of all, her family was very important to Mary. She greatly enjoyed cooking at large family gatherings for the holidays and summer picnics every year. In addition, she loved dolls and had an extensive number of porcelain collector dolls. Among many other things, Mary will be remembered for her genuineness, love of life, and unforgettable smile.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Marshall and Mary Horsley; son, Andrew Light; three sisters, Jeannette Maggard, Martha Spencer, and Judy Sexton; and sister-in-law, Lynn Marshall. She is survived by her two sons, Raymond Schooler and William Light; daughter, Rosanna Light; many grandchildren; four sisters, Linda (Ronnie) Blackburn, Jeannie (Harry) Dillow, Jacqueline (Randy) King, and Sara Frazee; two brothers, Frank and David Marshall; her cherished friend, Joanie Kienlen and her special niece, Misty Horton.
