Mary I. Carter's Obituary
CARTER, Mary I., age 89, formerly of West Union, Ohio, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2020 at Hillspring of Springboro. She was born October 24, 1930 to James and Rosa Baker in Cincinnati.
Mary was a member of the West Union Church of Christ in Christian Union. She was a devoted Christian lady and greatly enjoyed attending church and church activities. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, taking care of her grandchildren, sewing, and crocheting. Over the years, she made many beautiful quilts, pillow cases, blankets and other beautiful items. Among many things, she will be remembered for her love of baking pies and cream puffs. Her pumpkin, chocolate, and apple pies were some of her best. Although she enjoyed baking pies and cream puffs year round, her Thanksgiving dinners will always be remembered as the time when she made the most of her baking and entertaining.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1990; one daughter, Patsy Shumway; grandson, Clint Cronan; her parents; two brothers, Robert and Norman; and one sister, Charlotte. She is survived by two sons, Mike (Vicki) Carter and Steve Carter; daughter, Paula (John) Csizma; six grandchildren, Greg (Amy) Shumway, Becky Spivey, J. Michael (Paige) Carter, Leslie Carter, Austin Carter, and Cheyenne Carter; nine great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
A private funeral service will be held 2 PM Wednesday, May 13 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Pastor Richard Lloyd will be officiating the services. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. Private visitation will be held 1 PM - 2 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
