Mary Joan Cassidy's Obituary
CASSIDY, Mary Joan age 74 of Waynesville passed away Sun. Dec. 29, 2013 at her residence. A 1957 graduate of Waynesville High School, she graduated cum laude from Wilmington College in 1960. She taught at Wayne Local Schools in the late '70's and early '80's. She was a member of the Middle Run Baptist Church Preservation Association and the Greene County Historical Society. She greatly enjoyed genealogy and writing. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas in 2007, one son Michael Cassidy, and her parents Charles and Mabel Stiles. She is survived by two sons Patrick (Veronica) Cassidy and Timothy (Jessica) Cassidy; four grandchildren Kayla, Adam, Kierstyn, and Teagan Cassidy; and her brother Carl "Skip" (Jennifer) Stiles. Funeral services 10 AM Fri. Jan. 3, 2014 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville. Burial will be at Middle Run Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thurs. at the funeral home.
